WHAT WE DID
The MSP-NE Serbia project was conceived at a time of considerable achievements, yet significant remaining challenges in Serbia. Since the start of the economic transition process in 2000, Serbia achieved macro-economic stability and annual GDP growth was exceeding five per cent. A substantial body of economic reform, restructuring and privatization had been implemented. There remained, however, major problems in the Serbian economy: a significant structural trade deficit, high unemployment, weak international competitiveness, relatively high-public sector share of GDP and substantial regional economic imbalances, to name a few. The average salary in Serbia in 2006 was only € 300 per month. Programs were needed at the local government level to achieve levels of growth in future years to sharply increase the size of the Serbian economy, achieve higher incomes, resolve structural problems and redress the lack of balance in regional development.

Assessed NE Serbia's economic structure, status of economic and political development, and identified specific needs for political, structural and economic reforms
Co-authored the successful consortium technical proposal, using data it had collected during the pre-proposal assessment phase
Provided key local experts to the consortium in support of project activities
Participated in consortium management
